According to the International Energy Agency, conventional global crude oil production peaked in 2006. The remaining oil is increasingly difficult to extract, and once oil becomes too expensive to extract and process, it will no longer be a viable energy source. To replace the physical infrastructure of our oil-based system with alternative energies in time will not be easy. Oil is the lifeblood of our economy, our American way of life. Our industrial food system is dependent on oil. Global human population growth in the last 150 years may not have been possible without oil.</SPAN></I></FONT>
