The situate reservoir is at 106% of capacity -

The population of the state has spread out from the urban core so even though we've added many suburbs to the situate system, it is really more than we need. Droughts this spring had more effect on fire danger, dust levels and suburban water supplies that depend on wells than on our reserves in the city. Hose away if it helps.<br>

Hello Neighbor (sorry, I think this needs to be long)<br><br>It's no body's fault- but am having REAL problems with the dust out there. Plus I have respiratory problems, & from how & that I am coughing more than usual, I can tell this stuff is actually getting in my lungs. And, No, sorry, I can't tolerate a mask.<br><br>I've even hosed down the street in front of my apartment, but besides drying up again in 1/2 hour, the traffic drags clouds from the next block. Plus I think we are still officially in a drought and that's using a lot of water.<br>
<br>But I can't be the only one MORE than inconvenienced by the dust. This problem stretches from Lippett Park up to the restaurants/banks area, and soon will go on past the library down Hope Street. They are planning on working on this till September. <br>
<br>And at the restaurants, even with the indoor tables, who wants to eat off of dust coated dishes? It is inside my house, so I am sure it is in there.<br><br>The construction workers are decent guys- they scrape up the big piles, but it can't help but get every where. They throw Calcium Salts down, which are agroscopic, but the stuff is very expensive and almost useless in the very dry air we have been having a lot lately. They put asphalt over some of the work, but only on Fridays...<br>

So today I <b>called Prov City Hall</b> to see if we could get a street sweeper to actual REMOVE some of the drifting dirt. <br><br>I spoke to a very nice Ms. Perez in the Mayors office- who was straight with me about how limited the street cleaning budget is. We talked about asking the sewer department- whose project this is, but I don't image they have a lot of money either. She is going to look into it, see what she can do. <br>
<br>But I need to breathe in the mean while, all day, every day... like the rest of us.<br><br>So can we have some brainstorming here? Does anybody know somebody who can get this to happen?<br><br>How could we allocate or raise some funds to cover street cleaners going up and down THE TRAVEL LANES of HOPE STREET (more needed & important that the usual gutters) , a COUPLE times on all Fridays at 4PM, and preferably <i>also</i> on Tues or Wednesday at 4PM, there by doing it twice a week to keep the dust level under control. Like maybe businesses sponsor a stretch of the high way? Or...<br>
<br>We say we want a friendly, walkable neighborhood. The farmers market is coming to our dust cloud soon. Imagine having to keep our windows closed all summer? People should be able to breathe... This dust is the antithesis of all that.<br>
<br>Not much can be done about the noise and disruption from 7 AM till 3:30 or 4 PM- but, at least the rest of the time, I would like us to not be miserable. And no more migraine-headaches-squared,<i> p l e a s e.....</i><br>
