2. Is it now too late for that? It is not too late. I believe we have until Feb, but if you plan to do it, now is the time.<br>3. If a street does "opt out", do they get to keep<br>the current ability to park overnight by calling the<br>
police? A recent E-Mail on the list suggests that<br>this option is now gone. So, what good would<br>"opting out" do? The Do Not Tag List is gone. Opting-out will not bring it back for your street, unfortunately. If a street opts out, then no one on that street may get a permit either. <br>

Date: Friday, June 8, 2012, 11:33 AM<div><div class="yiv858091840h5"><br><br><div>As promised, here is the form that you need to
get your street to opt-out of the overnight parking program:<div><br></div><div><a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.sna.providence.ri.us/resident-permit-parking-program-petition/">http://www.sna.providence.ri.us/resident-permit-parking-program-petition/</a> </div>
<div><br></div><div>Just click the PDF link and it will download the form so you can print it.</div><div><br></div><div>You need 66.66% of your street to sign this form before your street will be opted-out of the program. The street is defined as the entire terminus of the street (from start to end), with the following two exceptions:</div>
<div><br></div><div>1. If the street is longer than 10 blocks, you only need 10 contiguous blocks to sign the petition.</div><div><br></div><div>2. If the street crosses over into another police district, you only need the blocks in your police district.</div>
<div><br></div><div>The Parking Administrator is currently making the decision on who gets a vote toward the 66.66%. He is not sure if you need a vehicle registered in Providence to have your vote count. In his mind, only those who are eligible for the permit program get a vote, and you need a vehicle registered in Providence to be eligible. I have urged him to allow all residents (one per household) to be allowed a vote. In my opinion, if someone does not want this program on their street, it is irrelevant whether or not they have a vehicle. <br clear="all">
