Perfect model for our neighborhood. A great</span><br><span>way to get to know each other, teach folks about growing food (young and</span><br><span>old), and teach everyone how to share space. Will there be a point person</span><br><span>from the city managing the garden? From the neighborhood? How does that</span><br><span>work?</span><br><span></span><br><span>As for cleaning up the toys or keeping the lot tidy - we do all know that</span><br><span>this is a playground, yes? I love that people have donated old toys for</span><br><span>their neighbor's children to enjoy. The spirit of that is lovely. I know my</span><br><span>son enjoys the discoveries he makes there. One person's trash is another's</span><br><span>treasure? I think if there can just be an agreement to remove anything that</span><br><span>appears to be dangerous to the kids, that should do the trick. But if you</span><br><span>need it to be tidy, I fear this is a battle you will lose - and with no</span><br><span>malice intended. Just a very tough thing to manage. Perhaps we all just do</span><br><span>our best and enjoy the rest.</span><br><span></span><br><span>I'd love to participate in the neighborhood meetings on the issue but they</span><br><span>are often held during a tough time of day for my family. I do hope some of these will stay after the retrofit.</span><br><span></span><br><span>Comment 2: I think community gardens are fabulous and the fact that all the</span><br><span>presently existing ones have waiting lists speaks volumes! I do like the</span><br><span>idea of the alternative community garden structure where everyone pitches</span><br><span>in communally, without separately designated plots, the food is distributed</span><br><span>evenly, and the rest goes to the food banks, soup kitchens, etc. Maybe we</span><br><span>can pioneer this model in Providence?</span><br><span></span><br><span>Question: The new design mentions a toddler structure, but will there still</span><br><span>be a play structure (other than the swings) for the older kids?
