Nope The grey can is smaller. I called to check and they said "yes, it's smaller. We have to recycle more."

On Thu, Sep 27, 2012 at 9:59 AM, Frank Pari <fpari82@gmail.com> wrote:
ARGH... I understand the city needs to "force" people to recycle more, but the fall-out goes on us neighbors.

The idea the TRASH cans will be smaller is going to be a problem for some of us.

The people behind us already seem to always have an overflowing can. Which is then NOT closed. A bounty for animals. And the raccoons seem to like our yard for having their dinner- over and over.... GROSS.

Over the years our upstairs neighbors occasionally overflow their can, and with some of them it HAS been because that they don't recycle. I could hear the beer bottles rattling. THEY don't care if the can isn't closed, but we on the first floor get to smell it.

My landlord tried to buy another can. They wanted $100 for it, and then
told him they would NEVER empty a third can. So naturally he didn't do it.

At least one friend of mine has a very large family, plus grand kids that come to visit. She DOES recycle. The city refused to give her another can. They said she wasn't putting enough in the recycling bins! She has currently solved her problem by getting permission from some neighbors to put her extra bags in their cans. But if they have smaller cans too, what is she going to do? Yeah- she doesn't put as much as some folks in her recycling bins- when you cook mostly from scratch there isn't much to recycle!
And I am plenty pro recycling- I used to do it when it meant driving your own glass to dump and sorting it by color.

Mrs B

--
FISHEL BRESLER'S KLEZMER & HASSIDIC MUSIC -
