Thanks and I do not blame you for being discouraged....I also have
en counted different type of theft where I reside, just a few streets away from
you....and so far I have not seen anything done to protect we in the
neighborhood....Perhaps if a group of people come together and bring their
complaints to the SNA....more action can be taken....You may also want to
report this to the crime watch committee-who hold meets at the Miriam
Hospital......Don't despair, we are all vulnerable as our neighbors when it
comes to theft--we must unite and stand together, and hopefully put an end to
this....H.

I am very sad to join the long list (again) of neighbors
who have their cars broken into or have experienced an attempted break-in. A
few years ago our front passenger window was smashed and this morning we found
a wire jammed into the driver side door lock. We have a motion-sensored bright
light that shines on the car, but clearly that’s not enough. A few years ago,
our landlord had all four tires of his car stolen with the car left up on
cinderblocks. So, I guess it could be worse.

But I don’t feel safe on the East Side anymore and I am
tired of reading all the complaining about the recycling cans being too big
and the donated toys at the playground being too messy.

Is there really nothing we can do to stand up against these
thieves? To get the police department to stop shrugging their shoulders? To
come together on at least this one issue?

I don’t have any great ideas about what we could do and am
new to this listserv so don’t know what has been done in the past, but I want
to be part of the solution. Feel free to contact me at <A
