I don't use the digest option, and I don't even know how to see all the
things that I should trim, since they don't show up in the messages my gmail
gives me.

So, from my point of view, it's a toss-up,
whether people should trim or not trim. I'm not a sophisticated computer
user at all. (When I was a boy, homes didn't even have TVs.) If
the digest users aren't to be inconvenienced, then I will have to be
inconvenienced trying to figure out with every post how to see what my
computer does not automatically show me, and where to cut. If, on the
other hand, I am not to be inconvenienced, then the digest users drown in a
sea of words. Either way, it's a royal pain in the
you-know-where.

The third option is for everyone to shut up about
the issue. Let's all just to put up with being inconvenienced on this
list, every day we read it. Half of us will be inconvenienced in one way
every day, the other half of us in the other. This seems the best option
to me.

Bob M

question (and despite thinking that the digest option is, as Jeffrey said,
pretty terrible), I'm not one of the people who said they wouldn't trim.
I'll do my best to remember. But since gmail and other modern clients hide
all the previous discussions, it's easy to forget.
