Students in the Brown archaeology course “tiny” — devoted to the archaeology of miniaturization — concluded their fall studies with the curation of a pocket-sized gallery exhibition. Included in the exhibit is a series of shadowboxes paired with short essays, a one-minute short, a video game and a series of holograms curated using material from an ancient Greek archaeological site. This exhibition presents the award-winning photographer Fernando Brito's moving images of life in Sinaloa, Mexico, a province that has been torn apart by the struggle between one of the most powerful drug cartels in the world and the Mexican government. From 2004 to 2014, Brito was a photo editor and reporter for the newspapers La I and El Debate, specializing in crime-related news.
