The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) announced this week that the bridge will be closed to auto and pedestrian traffic beginning May 15, 2021 as it works to replace the old, structurally deficient bridge. The project is expected to last about four months.</p><p align="left" style="vertical-align: baseline; line-height: 1.5em; color: rgb(85, 85, 85); font-size: 15px; unicode-bidi: embed; margin: 0px 0px 1.3em; padding: 0px;">RIDOT has arranged for RIPTA to provide the shuttle, which will be free of charge to the public. The shuttle will allow people walking on Park Avenue to connect from Doric Avenue on the west side of the bridge to Elmwood Avenue on the east side of the bridge. The shuttle will operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.
