<p style="line-height: 200%; margin: 1em 0px; padding: 0px; font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; text-align: left;"><font color="#000000">On behalf of the Providence Emergency Management Agency, here is a quick update on the pending storm and PEMA’s Emergency Operations Center activation plan: </font></p>
<p style="line-height: 200%; margin: 1em 0px; padding: 0px; font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; text-align: left;"><b><font color="#000000">The wind field of Henri has been expanding on the east side of the storm. Track has shifted slightly eastward, with landfall expected between eastern Long Island and near the CT/RI border Sunday afternoon</font><span style="color: rgb(96, 96, 96);">.</span></b></p>
<ul style="">
<li style=""><b style="color: rgb(205, 35, 44);">Hurricane Warnings</b><font color="#000000"> in effect for coastal RI (including Block Island) and portions of southern CT. </font></li>
<li style=""><font color="#cd232c"><b>Tropical Storm Warning</b> </font><font color="#000000">in effect for inland CT, RI, and the south coast of MA (including Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket.</font></li>
<li style=""><font color="#cd232c"><b>Storm Surge Warning</b> </font><font color="#000000">in effect for all of CT, RI, and southern MA coastlines, as far north as Chatham.</font></li>
<li style=""><font color="#cd232c"><b style="">Storm impacts from late tonight into early Monday</b>, </font><font color="#000000">with heavy rain possibly lingering into Monday as Henri weakens rapidly over land.</font></li>
</ul>

<p style="line-height: 200%; margin: 1em 0px; padding: 0px; font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; text-align: left;"><font color="#606060">In coordination with the American Red Cross, </font><b style=""><font color="#000000">the City has opened a regional shelter beginning Saturday evening at 8:00 pm</font><font color="#606060">. </font></b><font color="#606060">The shelter will be located at the </font><b style=""><font color="#000000">Providence Career & Technical Academy, 41 Fricker Street</font></b><font color="#606060">, Providence <i>[directly facing Central & Classical High Schools, between Westminster, Cranston & Brosd Streets]</i> </font><font color="#000000">and will be open to all individuals needing a safe place to shelter from the storm. No pets will be allowed in the shelter and water and snacks will be provided. Masks will be required in the shelter at all times and COVID-19 precautions will be closely followed.</font></p>
<p style="line-height: 200%; margin: 1em 0px; padding: 0px; font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; text-align: left;"><font color="#000000"><b>The Department of Public Works will be checking storm drains</b> to ensure that they are clear of debris. Residents are asked to please assist the Public Works Department by </font><font color="#cd232c">ensuring leaves and debris are cleared from street drains and catch basins in front of their homes and on corners,</font><font color="#000000"> as significant rain and local flooding is likely. Likewise, the city’s Parks Department will be closely monitoring for down trees throughout the city. <strong style="">Please report any down trees to 3-1-1.</strong></font></p>
