I recently cleaned out our medicine cabinet and have been wondering what to do with the (sometimes very) old medications. CVS on Hope Street, where most of them were purchased, was polite but their only suggestion was to flush them down the toilet. Which seemed, honestly, a bit crazy.<br>

I just discovered that the Walgreens on North Main Street will take old medicines. There are a few restrictions -- no illegal drugs and no needles, for example -- but not many. In particular, it doesn't matter if they're prescription or nonprescription, from Walgreens or somewhere else. And it's really easy. There's a metal container like a post-office box near the pharmacy towards the back of the store, and you can just walk in and put your medicine bottles, tubes, etc. into the box.<br>
