    The only thing that is keeping the student population down in Summit it the lack of parking. If we open the streets to overnight parking, property speculators will turn Summit into a satellite neighborhood for Brown, RISD and J&W. They have already tried it next door to me. Trust me, you don't want a house full of college students living next door to you. Take a drive throught the Thayer or Eaton Street neighborhoods to se what I mean.

 In some towns who need on-street parking, there is a requirement that only one side of the street be used on alternate nights. For example, on mon, Wed, and Fri, all cars must park on the uneven numbered side. Also, in West Chester, PA, there is a rule that when more than 3 inches of snow fall, NO cars may be on the street. I think both of those ideas might help if parking is allowed at all. Just tossing out that idea...  Judi on Firglade

I agree with Jessica.  Street parking sounds like a nice quick fix,  
but I believe it would be nightmarish, especially on narrow streets  
like ours (Lewis).

I know that sounds harsh toward people with limited parking, but I  
just think the cure would be worse in the long run than the  
"sickness."  Do we really want our East Side streets wall-to-wall  
with parked cars, as in Boston?  Not I!  (That might be the straw  
that finally pushed us out to Rumford or somewhere similar.)
