This is a reminder about the evening lecture series at Church of
Redeemer on Hope St.   This month's talk is by Nancy Kendrick, chair of
the philosophy dept. at Wheaton College, and a specialist in the
philosophy of Descartes.  Her title is : "What was God doing in the 17th
Century?"  - Tuesday, March 13th, 7:30 pm, at the Savoy St. entrance to
the church.  Free.

talk by David Ames was postponed due to weather - will be rescheduled.)

"Labyrinth Talks"


 


A Series of Lectures Offered by


The Church of the Redeemer


655 Hope St., Providence, RI

 

We are happy to present this series entitled, "Labyrinth Talks," which
will explore questions of faith and reason, religion and science,
philosophy and theology, belief and doubt.   We invite you to step onto
the path with us.

 

Lectures will take place at 7:30 pm, in the Parish Hall (entrance at
rear of church, on Savoy Street).  All talks are free and open to the
public, with discussion and refreshments afterward.

 


SPRING SCHEDULE


 

 

Tuesday, March 13:  Nancy Kendrick - "What was God Doing in the 17th
century?"

 

Nancy Kendrick is Associate Professor and Chair of Philosophy at Wheaton
College in Norton, MA. She is a member of the Vestry at Grace Church in
downtown Providence .

 

Tuesday, April 10: Kenneth Miller - "God vs. Darwin :  Evolution and the
Battle for America 's Soul"

 

Kenneth R. Miller is Professor of Biology at Brown University .  He is
author of high school and college biology textbooks used by millions of
students nationwide, and was the lead witness in support of evolution in
the Dover , Pennsylvania trial on the teaching of "intelligent design"
in 2005.

 

Tuesday, May 8 :  Ellen Hight - "Spirituality and Medicine"

 

Dr. Hight is a physician with University Family Medicine, East
Greenwich; she is also Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine
at the Brown Medical School .
