[Summit] Fw: Overnight parking

I am NOT in favor of over night parking. I have lived in both kinds of
neighborhoods, and despite the inconvenience and occasional tickets, I much
prefer clear streets at night. It effects the flavor of the neighborhood.
Sends a message. Seems to slow development. Makes it a little more
noticeable for a thief to pull up and empty a house. Makes parking during
the day a lot easier. (One place I lived I could not even unload my
groceries near my door.) Allows for easier snow removal and street
cleaning. etc.
That is just my opinion.
I HAVE had the problem with calling about parking a night. Once my car
broke down at midnite when I went to park it. Calling and putting a note on
it did not help: I got a ticket any way. When I asked for a hearing to
contest it, they scheduled me on a day I couldn't go. But that's life. We
forget to do deal with our shared-driveway-car-shuffle periodically, and a
car gets left out; in 11 years we have gotten at least a dozen tickets as a
result.
A when we have a visitor on the Sabbath we can't call anytime in the
evening, so we have to arrange to borrow a parking space from a neighbor.
But we still prefer no on street parking.
But maybe there could be a compromise- with no regular on street parking,
but everyone gets 1/2 dozen overnight chits/permission slips made out to
their specific address. The police come around and when they would write
the ticket, they collect the chit instead. Families with special
situations, such as weddings and funerals, could be issued for extras.
