[Summit] Kitten update

Hi, all,

The starving scared kitten has found a temporary home with us. We
would prefer she found a permanent home elsewhere... So please spread
the word. (By the way, she's a good mouser!)

She has now been spayed, has had all her shots (will have boosters in
3 weeks), and has been tested for feline AIDS and Leukemia.

She's turning out to be a very friendly kitten. Hank Wietsma, her
vet, was impressed with her adaptability, as were we. For example, if
struggling to get out of her carrier doesn't work, she settles down
and awaits developments.

The speed with which she became tame and friendly suggests to me that,
as I originally suspected, she isn't truly feral but was someone's pet
who became lost or was abandoned.

Thanks to all of you who told us about "Lost Cat" posters. We
followed up on them, but none pertained to this cat.

Carol Cancro suggested I call C.A.T.S., which finds home for unwanted
kittens. I did call, and the lady told me they have 50 kittens on
hand now and can't take ours for a month. She recommended spaying in
the meantime, or our single kitten could turn into 6 or 8 kittens. So
that's what we did.

Sincerely,
Elva Mathiesen
