[Summit] Hope St Retail area Snow, and us too yesterday... sorry!

Yes Eden Park Dry Cleaners plowed their little lot the same way as usual,
including piling all the last strip of snow across the end of the side walk.

Mother nature's job with the ice storm at the end was pretty thorough
though. I know it is very difficult to remove, but some sand makes a BIG
difference and a lot of places don't even bother with that. The business
operators have to know how slippery it is- they came in that way!
I actually saw someone at the bank talking to someone else about needing
surgery to set her arm from falling, although she didn't say where she fell.

I was pretty disappointed myself yesterday afternoon when I went out. I had
no idea how BAD OUR sidewalks had been all day. Sorry! I had spent hours
around our house late on Sunday, so I had figured it couldn't be too bad.
WRONG. Thick slippery ice, and they plowed Hope Street AGAIN during the
night, almost up to the curb, undoing the pathways I had made, the sewer I
had dug out and the fire hydrant I dug out, AND spilling the slop over the
already big mound onto the cleared part of the sidewalk.

The fire department dug out the hydrant again, but the rest froze solid.
Tomorrow it will rain. With the sewer drain covered the water collects
right in front of our house, where all our music students usually get out.
Sigh.
I like snow, but living on a main street in a New England winter is a drag,
and never quit resign myself to...

By the way Home Depot had bottles of that Calsium salt for $6.99 the other
day. The straight Calcium Salt, not a blend. That's expensive, but it
melts down to 15º, so I use it for steps or slopes or other very risky areas
at least.
