[Summit] Crime Report 1-30-08

   One of my tasks for the Summit Neighborhood Association is to periodically collect crime data from Lt. Schiavulli so we can report trends, etc. (and so Jessica Jenner can write the article in the ESM we see).This is in addition to our informal sharing here which I think is important. For the issue at hand, this is what he reports (I only asked for district 8-3, roughly Summit):

Since 1-1-2008, There have been eight Breaking and Entering. Six of these happened the week of 1/21. By way of comparison, there were 20 for all of 2007 (which was a 57% decline year over year from 2006). The Lt. asked me to pass along that he has additional patrols and plainclothes officers out.

I asked for addition specifics such as location, time and method of break-in, items taken, etc. but this is an ongoing investigation. I'll pass along any info.

Separately, this is what else has happened since the beginning of this year (which is about average):

1 Robbery
1 Motor vehicle theft
3 Larcenies from a motor vehicle
2 Other Larcenies
2 Vandalisms
2 Simple Assaults.
