Rhode Island Community Food Bank & BankRI
Did you know the Rhode Island Community Food Bank is helping an average of 55,000 people each month! This is an increase of 50% over just two years ago, and right now they need all the help they can get.
I'm writing to you as a fellow East Side resident because I know that we, as a neighborhood, can step up and help numerous people. All it takes is a few boxes of macaroni & cheese, or a jar of peanut butter, or a can of tuna fish, and you will help a family in need.
In partnership with the Food Bank's Summer Food Drive, every BankRI branch is serving as a drop-off site for non-perishable food items until August 27th. We're also accepting cash donations for the Food Bank as well. For every dollar donated to the Food Bank, they can distribute enough food to provide 3 nutritious meals to those in need.
We are striving to help the Food Bank meet its goal of raising an additional 175,000 pounds of food by the end of the summer. Donations we receive will be distributed through the entire state; to the Food Bank's broad network of member agency food pantries, community meal sites, shelters, and various other emergency programs.
If you would like to donate food but are unable to make it to your local BankRI branch, please let me know and I can arrange to pick up the food and drop it off. This is for a good cause, and it's a cause I believe in. If we pitch in, we'll make a real difference in the lives of numerous Rhode Islanders.
