[Summit] Swimming in the Fountain

How about answering the question with another:
How come people and animals and birds and bugs
have been swimming in the same water for thousands
of years - without mass illness resulting?

This society has become too radically germophobic.
Not that it isn't common sense to be reasonably
clean - but the advertisers have convinced us to
live life in total fear of any wandering microbe.

Guess what - there are hundreds (at least) around
and in us every day. If some are more nasty than
they were, it is likely because of the germ warfare
in which we have engaged with antibacterial everything.
This causes mutations - and allows the really nasty
ones to survive.

There was a study once of rats living in a pristine
laboratory setting vs. a bunch residing in a sewer.
Guess which group was far more healthy?

No, we shouldn't live like sewer rats - but we could
lighten up a bit.

Blessings,

Liberty G
