The case of the mysterious wheel has been solved, thanks to the Summit
mailing list. It was apparently stolen from a vehicle parked near
Castor's last night. The owner just reached out to me and will be
reunited this evening.

My guess is someone was putting a bike on a carrier and took off the
front wheel and propped it against car; forgot to put it in the car and
drove off. Probably someone who commutes and was getting some ride time
in after work?? I would think they'd be back asking around!!

A strange thing happened last night around 6:30 as I was
watering the grass, trying to get some seed to grow:
I heard something in front of the house next to mine on
Lauriston St and turned to see a bicycle wheel on the edge of their
yard. I didn't think anything of it, and went back to the grass,
assuming my neighbor or one of the other tenants had just quickly placed
it there. About 15 minutes went by and it was still there, so I went to
take a closer look. It was an exceptionally expensive looking racing
bike wheel. Again I figured someone had just put it there, so I cleaned
up and went inside. I came back 20 minutes later and it was still there.
Surprised, I texted my neighbor, and he said he had no idea what I was
talking about, it wasn't his.

The very strange thing is that it wasn't there when I first
started watering the grass or walked my dogs 1/2 hour earlier. It seems
very odd for just a front wheel, and from a very expensive bike ($400
for the wheel on eBay) to suddenly appear on the edge of the sidewalk.
There was no one else on the street at all at the time.

I eventually took it into our house so that it wouldn't be taken
by someone who didn't own it. I also stopped by Castor's to ask them and
they said they hadn't had anyone looking for a wheel, but that it sure
was a nice wheel and the clerk said he'd be happy to have it, but that
they would put up a lost and found sign for me.

I checked with all of my neighbors and also posted a note on the
tree near where it was found, but thought I'd reach out to the list as
well. My only guess is that it fell off a bike strapped to a car, or
perhaps that it was something more nefarious.

It it's yours, please let me know.
