Robert, you said what I was thinking, or what I would have been thinking
if I was smarter.

Only things  I have to add:

Don't be intimidated when she goes ACLU on you. People don't have the
right to do anything they want to, even if they own a house.

Try calling or email your city council person, even just for advice. And
tell them you will share their response with this mailing list. They are
feeling very solicitous this time of year.
