[Summit] Summit Digest, Vol 90, Issue 11
Hope for Health

The real danger in our neighborhood is from cars parked close
to the corner - especially large ones. They block the view
when someone is turning into the street. I had an accident
a while back from this - didn't see a car coming down Fourth
Street as I turned into it from Hope. Cicilline put a sign
saying no parking to corner there - but it is gone now.
This is only going to get worse with the new parking regs,
which, by the way, only deprive us of rights we now have,
while making little or no money for the city. Likewise,
the "traffic calming" just makes it trickier to turn
onto streets like Rochambeau - very little room for two
cars to pass.
Instead of spending more money on these "improvements",
the city should be enforcing the no parking to corner
laws - as well as stopping for pedestrians, etc. That
would result in some income for Providence, and make
our streets safer, instead of more cars and risk of
accidents.
That and the library closing have soured me on Mayor
Tavares - I don't think he has got his priorities straight.
Blessings,
Liberty G
