As I was composing and sending my own incomplete reply, this more-specific one came in a message from Cheryl Simmons’ list:

Curbside Christmas tree recycling schedule:

Christmas tree pick up will be starting on January 9th and will run for two weeks. Trees should be free of lights, ornaments and decorations and shouldn't be in a bag. As with years past they should be placed curbside on their regular trash days.

 but a bit of a mystery to me, too. 

 (Our family used and reused a metallic tree for years, and
 now I live in a building on Federal Hill where I don’t

 There was a specific City announcement for Christmas 2014
 (at the end of the Taveras administration), but the other
 pages I could find seemed more general or were undated.
