| Hi David,
I want to talk to you today about contact tracing. This is an area in which Rhode Island stepped up early, and the experience of other countries makes it clear that this is one of the most important ingredients in staying ahead of the virus. We know that the quicker we can track down contacts, monitor for symptoms and get tested, the more effectively we can stop the spread. In this regard, I have three requests for you and your family, friends, and neighbors. |

- First, I want to again ask everyone to keep your contact tracing journal. Take one minute every day to write down the names of everyone you saw that day. You can even do it right in your Crush COVID app.
- Second, if you’re the one organizing a gathering, even if it's just having a few people over for dinner, please make sure you write down the names and phone numbers of everyone you have over. If someone tests positive and says they were at your house, the contact tracers’ first call will be to you, and they’ll need to know the names and numbers of everyone who was there.
- Third, if you get called by the contact tracers, please answer the phone and provide your information. I know people may be hesitant to provide information over the phone, but I want to assure you that the no personally identifiable information is stored in the system, and all the information you provide is protected by the strictest privacy standards under HIPAA.
I also want to remind everyone of the golden rule in this pandemic – the number one thing we keep repeating. If you are sick at all – even if it’s just a headache – stay home. We’ve started to see more reports of people going to work when they’re sick, and this is directly correlated to workplace transmission of COVID. I know there can be a lot of pressure to still go in, particularly if you only have one symptom and otherwise you’re feeling fine, but we all have a civic duty right now to resist that pressure. If you have any symptoms, stay home and get tested. And stay in quarantine while you’re waiting on your test results. |

| As a reminder, tomorrow’s guest on our Facebook Live forum will be one of our nation’s leading public health experts, Dr. Anthony Fauci. I’m looking forward to a robust and thoughtful conversation with Dr. Fauci about our plan for schools, the health benefits of in-person learning, and the precautions that need to be in place to be confident in the safety of our schools. I hope you’ll tune in on my Facebook page at 3 p.m. tomorrow.

Dear neighbor –
Our parks are playgrounds, sports stadiums, science labs and stages that connect our community, especially during difficult times like these. Whether going outside just to take a breath of fresh air, reuniting with neighbors at a social distance, checking out the award-winning youth programming for through our Eat, Play, Learn PVD program, or picking up a delicious meal from one of our world-class restaurants and treating yourself to a picnic in your local park they provide immeasurable benefits to our residents and communities.

Over the last five years we have invested over $31 million in more than 200 major improvements across our 120 parks and greenspaces; including new fitness features, fresh landscaping and engaging playscapes. Parks that have seen improvements this year include:
- Bucklin Park on Dexter Street, where new artificial turf has been installed on its football and softball fields
- Columbia Park on Cranston Street, which features revitalized basketball courts, a new outdoor fitness area and playground
- Dexter Training Grounds on Parade and Willow Street, which welcomed Dex the Dragon as the latest play feature to a newly-renovated tot lot, a new fitness gym, volleyball court and a beautified picnic area
- Conley Stadium on Mt. Pleasant Avenue, where the City invested over $3 million through our Capital Improvement Plan to improve its facilities including new tennis courts, softball fields, and other improvements to the former home of the NFL-champion Providence Steamrollers
Later this fall, the Cranston Street Park’s basketball courts will become the City’s third site to be upgraded through My Home Court, a basketball court art installation project made in partnership with Providence College; and Fargnoli Park will also unveil a new playground and waterpark in addition to a beautified picnic area.
With these sustained improvements, residents and visitors alike can find a vibrant green space that they can enjoy just a short distance away. While visiting our parks, please remember to wear a mask; stay six feet apart from those outside your household; and avoid touching high-traffic surfaces and wash your hands frequently. To find your local park and explore ongoing parks projects use the Providence Parks Finder. Anyone interested in using outdoor athletic fields, courts, and other sports facilities for organized sports activities are required to submit for permit through the Department of Recreation.
Sincerely,
Jorge O. Elorza
