Dear Neighbors,
A quick note about an important vaccination update.
Today Friday, April 2 "in the evening" the state will release 12,000 new COVID vaccination appointments at vaccinateri.org. These appointments are for individuals 60 and over and other groups who have been eligible as outlined below.
On Monday, April 5th at midnight people aged 50 and older will be able to make appointments at area retail pharmacies (see below for those links, and pharmacies also visible through the RI COVID Vaccination Sites map).
On Tuesday, April 6th at 9am the state will release more appointments at vaccinateri.org for people ages 50+ at state clinics and other locations.

| The Strategy
Rhode Island's vaccination strategy encourages municipalities and local clinics to focus on hardest-hit and hardest-to-reach populations and allow larger state clinics to more efficiently vaccinate everyone else.
Targeted Groups & Timeline

The State of RI has opened vaccination appointments to:
- People aged 60+ or older (with 50+ starting Monday and 40+ a week later)
- People 16+ with specific underlying conditions
- Educators and staff at private, public and parochial schools, pre-schools and licensed day care facilities will be contacted by their employer
- Veterans of all ages through Providence Veterans Administration Healthcare System or 401-273-7100 x16226.
The City of Providence has opened vaccination appointments to:
- Providence educators at 335R Prairie Ave on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Call 401-444-8139.
- People ages 16+ in 02904, 02905, 02907, 02908, and 02909 through VaccinatePVD.com or dial 3-1-1 or 401-421-2489 M-F 8:30am-4:30pm
Special Assistance
- Homebound: If you are unable to leave home to be vaccinated register with the RI Department of Health here or call 401-462-4444.
- Appointment Assistance: United Way staff can help make appointments via phone in multiple languages, 24 hours a day. Call 2-1-1.

The state will reserve some appointments for people on this list. They will send out notifications about appointments each Wednesday, starting April 7.

State-Run Vaccination Centers
COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility Opens for Next Group
COVID-19 vaccination eligibility will open next week for people age 50 to 59.
Beginning Monday, April 5, people age 50 to 59 can sign up to be vaccinated at pharmacies, and at local and regional vaccination sites. Starting Tuesday, April 5, they can also sign up for appointments at State-run sites on www.vaccinateRI.org. New appointments for State-run sites open every Tuesday at 9 a.m. and every Friday at 5 p.m.
Between now and April 19, the State is going to continue to open eligibility to different age groups, as you can see on our updated timeline.
New Regional Clinics To Open
New regional vaccination clinics will open next week in Westerly, East Providence, and Johnston.
Appointments are required at all vaccination sites. People can make appointments through www.vaccinateRI.org. If you need help scheduling an appointment, please call the automated phone line at 844-930-1779.
The new regional clinics will operate at the following locations on different days:
- The Westerly site at the Westerly Senior Citizens Center, 39 State St., will operate on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
- The East Providence clinic at the East Providence Senior Center, 610 Waterman Ave., will run on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
- And, the Johnston site at the Johnston Recreation Center, 1741 Atwood Ave., will operate on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2 until 7 p.m.
These days and times may change and expand as they get more vaccine. Each of these clinics will administer 1,200 doses a week.
Registering for Vaccination at a State-run Site
To register to be vaccinated at one of the State-run sites, visit www.vaccinateri.org. People who cannot register online can get help by calling the automated line at 844-930-1779. The call center is open on weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and weekends from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed on holidays).
Through both systems, an individual can either make a personal appointment or an appointment for someone else who is eligible.
As supply allows, new COVID-19 vaccination appointments at the State-run vaccination sites will be made available at the following times:
- Beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesdays
- Beginning at 5 p.m. on Fridays
Additional appointments may also be posted throughout the week as they become available.
Appointments are expected to fill up quickly. Additional appointments may be added throughout the week as slots open.
Lifespan and Care New England Limited Supply of Vaccine
Lifespan and Care New England have received a limited supply of COVID-19 vaccine to administer to patients according to RIDOH eligibility criteria. They will offer COVID-19 vaccinations by appointment only and will not take any walk-ins at the clinics.

For more information on what to expect during and after your vaccination appointment, visit C19vaccineRI.org.
COVID-19 Vaccine Record Lookup
Rhode Islanders can now get a copy of their COVID-19 vaccine record through portal.ri.gov/VaccineRecord. From this website, you can search for and print proof of your COVID-19 vaccination. If you need a second dose of vaccine, this record will tell you when you are eligible to get your second dose. Please note that only people who have received their COVID-19 vaccination in Rhode Island will be able to look up their vaccination record online.
If you are having trouble finding your vaccination record or are not able to go online, you can call 401-222-8022 for help.
Vaccine Access for ALL Rhode Islanders
The state is working to eliminate barriers to vaccination and increase ease of access. They want vaccine to be as accessible as possible for ALL Rhode Islanders.
To increase ease of access, they have worked to get vaccine to a number of specialty populations. This includes:
- More than 6,000 doses to people with intellectual or developmental disabilities through targeted outreach.
- More than 1,000 doses to homebound Rhode Island residents through partnerships with agencies to vaccinate people where they live.
- More than 600 doses to people experiencing homelessness through collaboration with community organizations.
If you are unable to leave home to receive COVID-19 vaccination, or are the healthcare provider or family caregiver of someone who is homebound, you can visit covid.ri.gov/vaccination, call 211, or Rhode Island’s Office of Healthy Aging Help desk, the “Point,” at 401-462-4444.
Vaccine Interest Notification List
To learn when you are eligible for vaccination or when a vaccination appointment opens for you at one of our State-run sites, you can sign up for the Vaccine Interest Notification List (VINL). People can sign up at portal.ri.gov or by calling 844-930-1779.
They will send out notifications each Wednesday, starting April 7. They may also contact you on other days if there are available appointments.
When a slot opens up for you, they will contact you using your preferred method of contact.
You will be offered an appointment day and location. The day will be roughly two weeks in the future and the location will be one of our five State-run sites: the Dunkin' Donuts Center, Sockanosset Cross Road, Middletown, South County, or Woonsocket. You may be able to choose an appointment time, depending on availability.
The link you get to register for an appointment can only be used once and is valid for 24 hours. If a person does not respond within 24 hours, their spot will be made available to someone else and they will return to the waiting list.
As of Thursday, April 1, approximately 79,000 people were signed up on VINL.
People who do not use this pre-registration system will still be able to make a COVID-19 vaccine appointment at a State-run site by going directly to www.vaccinateRI.org or by calling 844-930-1779. They can also make an appointment at a pharmacy or regional or local site. This pre-registration system is simply one more option for people. It is not required.

- Rhode Islanders can receive help scheduling appointments for COVID-19 vaccination by calling 2-1-1. A live, trained professional who can offer support in multiple languages when scheduling appointments on VaccinateRI.org, or signing up for the Vaccine Interest Notification List at portal.ri.gov.
Local Vaccination Sites
The City of Providence is currently booking available appointments for upcoming Providence COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics for Providence residents. Appointments are available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Providence residents who are technologically able and can meet the specified criteria below can register* themselves for open appointments on one of the following clinic dates here:

According to the City, please note that appointments are predominately for residents 18 and older in the hard-hit zip codes of 02904, 02905, 02907, 02908, and 02909
*Internet Explorer will not work with the Providence registration links.
Residents who need assistance signing up for an appointment are encouraged to dial 3-1-1 or or (401) 421-2489 to speak with a Mayor's Center for City Services Representative who can walk them through the enrollment process in English or Spanish. Although additional staff are supporting phone lines, residents should expect longer than normal wait times as MCCS anticipates a higher than normal call volume.
Regardless of your age, you can also sign up for the City notification service at https://www.providenceri.gov/vaccinate/vaccine-notification-eng/ and enter your information into the “Join Our Notification List” section. This is specific for vaccination in Providence, so only open to Providence residents.
As the city receives additional doses for our residents and schedules more vaccine clinics, city staff will contact residents who have filled out this form as one form of communication.
Pharmacies
- For Walgreens, go to Walgreens.com/ScheduleVaccine or call your local Walgreens.
New Pharmacy Sites
Stop & Shop and Walmart now offers the COVID-19 vaccine at pharmacy locations for eligible people in Rhode Island. Stop & Shop will offer the Moderna vaccine at most locations and the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine at four Stop & Shop pharmacies, while Walmart will offer the Pfizer vaccine.
- Stop & Shop: Eligible people can make a vaccine appointment at all 14 Stop & Shop Pharmacy locations in the state. To make an appointment or for more information, visit www.stopandshop.com/covid-vaccine.
Although people age 16 and older with underlying health conditions are eligible in the state, Stop & Shop Pharmacy locations will only be able to vaccinate individuals 18 and older as the Moderna and Janssen vaccines have only been authorized for people 18 and older.
- Walmart: Eligible people can make a vaccine appointment at select Walmart pharmacies in Rhode Island. For more information or to make an appointment, visit Flu Shots & Immunizations - Walmart.com.

Pharmacies to Expand Eligibility
Eligible groups can make appointments through CVS and Walgreens.
- For CVS, go to CVS.com, use the CVS Pharmacy app, or call CVS directly. Those without online access can contact customer service: (800) 746-7287. CVS has asked individuals eligible for COVID-19 vaccinations to use the appropriate digital channels or contact customer service to check for appointment availability, as opposed to contacting individual CVS Pharmacy locations. Active stores will change regularly based on vaccine supply.
Vaccine eligibility at pharmacies will depend on the same timeline, as well as the same age, high-risk conditions, and geography framework that the State is using. When additional age groups become eligible statewide, those same age groups will be eligible for appointments at pharmacies.
