---We're Keeping You Safe At the Avon Cinema--- 

Following the CDC and state and local guidelines, we have instituted new procedures to keep everyone safe. 

Many seats and rows have been closed to ensure proper spacing between guests. Seats that are available are easily identified with white tape at the top of the seat back. No one will be directly in front of or in back of another person. Two people arriving together may sit together. If someone comes alone, they may not sit next to another person who came alone. 

Guests buying tickets will notice tape on the floor at 6 foot intervals leading up to the box office. There are decals on the lobby floor at 6 foot intervals that lead up to the concession stand and the auditorium. 

If you are paying with a credit card, our terminal is now accessible to you. Our cashier will prompt you when to insert or remove your card. You may also tear your receipt directly from the credit card machine. You may also pay with cash. 

At the end of each show, we clean and sanitize the theatre (including seats, armrests, counters, bathrooms, door handles, hand rails, etc.) before admitting people in for the next show. 

Face masks are worn at all times except while you are sitting in the auditorium. Remember to wear your face mask to exit after the show.

|  Partnering with local galleries and shops, Gallery Night has created personal tours across Providence. You can walk around at your own convenience and experience the hidden art gems of what Providence has to offer.  

Look for flags at participating locations where you will find posters hung in windows with QR codes that link to videos with information about the art displayed in each window, along with how to purchase pieces for your art collection (tax-free!) and some fun facts about Providence’s history.

|  We also created a scavenger hunt! You will also notice a decal in each window of “Artee the Art Mouse”.  Artee will be hidden somewhere in the window, holding a puzzle piece.  Find all the pieces and solve the puzzle to discover new work by local artists*.  |

Rebuilding a City Around the Arts: The History of Gallery Night Providence

Before there was Gallery Night, before there was WaterFire or AS220, Providence was a city full of artists who lacked basic avenues of sharing There were however several people who understood that Providence had something special to offer and they began to work, both together and separately, to sculpt the city and all its offerings into an expansive cultural package.

One of these initiatives, Gallery Night, collaborated with galleries around the City to form a network of support and marketing. This combined effort created free educational experiences for people around Rhode Island and the world to be introduced to Providence’s vibrant art scene.

On the occasion of Gallery Night’s 25th anniversary, join the founders of Gallery Night, Cathy Bert (Bert Gallery), Teresa Level (Gallery Flux) and Paula Martiesian (Centercity Contemporary Arts) as they reflect on the inspirations, development, and evolution of Gallery Night. The conversation will be moderated by nationally acclaimed award-winning storyteller and author Len Cabral.

Due to a confluence of changing circumstances, including a COVID-19 related change in retail walk-in patterns and the upcoming sale of the building by the landlord, the beloved Scialo Bakery, est. 1916, Gallery Z director Berge Zobian has chosen to relocate and reformat the gallery in January 2021.

The restructured Gallery Z will offer both a different concept and an altered exhibit schedule, becoming a destination point by invitation or appointment, presenting quarterly exhibits, versus the near-monthly changing ones it has customarily featured, while continuing to represent the 400+ mid-career, established and well known artists it has been privileged to promote.

Additionally, the gallery will expand its vigorous online presence, continuing to actively promote its artists and art sales, hosting both virtual and live exhibits and offering education in the art field. Its extensive art holdings can be viewed on its user-friendly website, galleryzprov.com and may also be accessed on YouTube. A niche website, armenianartgalleryz.com, showcases the sixty+ established Armenian artists Gallery Z also represents, many famous and in museum collections.
