[Summit] Huge tax increase

Well I am not sure if that is the case or not for me. My bill last
year on my three family was over 10k and with the homestead exception
dropped to over 5k. My valuation went up and not counting homestead
exception the taxes are a within the range of a few hundred dollars
of last years tax bill with the new rate of $22.61. So the question
is if it is your primary residence do you still get the homestead
exemption.

If so it is not necessarily a major increase.

If I want to get my self worked up it would be over what I consider
the over inflated valuation that I received for my house. An increase
of 10k or so in a market that is soft. I have not seen a house like
mine sell for the price they assigned it in a while or ever ;) It
seems to me that the city should have to document the basis for the
valuation increase cause to me it seems wrong. Of course if I wanted
to initially contest it I would be out of luck since the deadline to
make an appointment was the day before I received the notification.

Failing to document the basis of calculating the valuation publicly
stinks of number fudging. Yeah the rate went down during my
administration and isn't that great your property value keeps going up!

If the city can find me a buyer for my property at the appraised
market value I would move in a heartbeat ;) --C
