[Summit] Fwd: Anti-semitic incidents

I just received this email back from Lt. Schiavulli, who with Sgt. Mancini
obviously took this seriously and "got right on it."
As someone who keeps kosher, I am also quite interested and serious about
the how and what is decided to be kosher, and understand someone might have
a different opinion and be very concerned.
However this was a very unfortunate method to express even a very strong
opinion. Hopefully this individual can be made to understand that he is
scaring people and not helping his case.
I want to thank Paul again for immediately taking the signs down, before
more people were unnecessarily upset.
Hopefully this the last we will need to hear of this issue.
It was reassuring to see everyone pulling together.

I am aware of the signs that were posted on Hope St . I have spoken to Sgt.
Mancini, Homeland Security Unit, who informed me that he has already spoken
to someone at the JCC and after further investigation it was learned that
the posters were not a threat of any type against the jewish community. We
believe this all stems from an elderly jewish man who lives on the eastside
who has a problem with the fact that there is a change in the way kosher
food is classified by a commercial food company. He is upset that the jewish
community is allowing this to happen. Again, this is not a threat against
the jewish community. Please forward this to anyone else you know who is
concerned about this incident. We, the police, will be speaking with this
elderly man. However, he has not broken any laws.

We have been having a problem with a group of not-kids-anymore (they were in
college when it started) for about five years now. Some of them, including
a driver of a dark blue compact, live back in that circle of houses off Cole
which backs up to the Brown soccer field. The police knew who some of those
"kids" were. This may also be their work. ?......
...................
The circle symbols on the first tombstone, for those who don't know, are the
discreet markings put on commercial foods that has been checked by a trained
individual and determined to be kosher. The Hebrew letters above are an
abbreviation for a blessing. However they are scrawled in the way of
someone familiar with writing them frequently. I hope there is not a
disturbed Jew involved in this!
I am glad to see the neighborhood will not tolerate this. For some of us
this is very frightening. Thank you Paul for bringing this to our
attention.
