[Summit] Summit Digest, Vol 34, Issue 44

I love the idea of a Trader Joe's too. But more than that a Trader
Joe's Wine store would be amazing. BUT... Rhode Island has such
archaic liquor licensing laws it would never happen. Rhode Island
does not allow chain liquor stores.
Rhode Island will allow you to open a bar pretty much anywhere but
not a liquor store. They think it's better for you to get in your
car, go to a bar consume some alcohol and then drive home instead of
buying a bottle at a store and drinking in your home. You have to
buy an existing liquor store / license if you want to open a liquor /
wine store. I guess it's because the mafia has to make their money
somehow.
I'm headed to their site now to fill out the location form.
