[Summit] alternate side of the street

I wasn't addressing the possible connection between
parking rules and housing costs. I was just agreeing
with others that constantly rising house values is not
really a good thing.
As to the crime connection - do you really think that
a thief is as happy parking on a totally empty street
while burgling - his car sticking out like a sore thumb
if the police come by? Being one of twenty cars on
that same street is far less likely to attract attention.
My other point was just that it is a nuisance to have
to keep remembering to move your car. Alternate
side of the street parking is not generally just at night.
You have to be sure to park on the right side during
the day as well.
Blessings,
Liberty G

I remember when people were afraid ending the parking ban would bring in a lower class of neighbors.
Now it is going to inflate property values!
Which is it?
And how will it do one or the other? What is the causation either way?
The $100 fee is for a permit to park overnight on the street. If you park in your driveway you just have to pay your taxes, not the extra $100.
And what thief says "uh oh, we cant burglarize here because we are not even allowed to park!"

I strongly agree with these (most recent) comments and those of Mrs. B.
I've lived where they had alternate side parking - it is a pain. I also share
the concerns about rising housing costs. All we ever hear is how the
homeowners will make less money when they sell. It is more important
that everyone have a home. For the record, we were house hunting a
few years ago, couldn't decide - and missed the boat. Now can't afford
to buy at all.
It's clear that lifting the overnight ban would result in more crowded
streets. Also, one reason for the ban was to make it harder for
thieves to work undetected at night. And, by the way, what is
this $100 a year for residents fee? We don't need that expense!
I really do feel things are pretty good the way they are - and if it
ain't broke, don't "fix" it.
